Day 2 First Session

Taking advantage of the somewhat cooler temperatures, the coaches and campers took to the turf for a productive morning session. Once again, the campers were divided into conferences based on their age. The Centennial Conference engaged in 1 vs. 1, 2 vs. 2 and 4 vs. 4 drills and were provided with specific coaching based on their position; attackmen went against defensemen and midfielders went against each other. The goalies received their own instruction and, once they were adequately warmed up, were added to the drills to see shots from their fellow campers. Following a water break, the campers were divided into two teams and given time to prepare for the games that will start this evening after dinner.

The ODAC conference was busy down on the lower turf field. They started their morning with stick skills; focusing on throwing and catching, use of their off hand, and use of one hand in order to build wrist strength and develop better accuracy. The campers held a half field shoot-out competition and took a water break before starting a game of Hungry, Hungry Hippo. This, much like the board game, is a competitive ground ball pick up game where four teams compete to see which can gather the most balls. When the whistle blew, the campers did not hesitate to get after the balls and do what was necessary to prevent others from doing so!

The morning session was followed by some time in the Barbee Center. The campers were given the opportunity to get a snack and drinks before cooling off in the pool or playing a game of knockout. Some campers did a wall ball workout with coaches, others took shots on goal, while some just enjoyed being in the air conditioning!

This afternoon's session will be held in the Barbee Center due to the heat.
