Pizza and the "Hat of Chance"

On the final night of camp every year, Coach Hemming brings out the "hat of chance". This hat holds the names of all the campers and is their ticket to a variety of prizes. After enjoying some pizza and down time together, the campers gathered round for the raffle. If their name was drawn, they were able to choose their prize. Needless to say, the custom gloves were the first to go!

Typical Day in Camp

Each day at Woodberry Forest Lacrosse Camp, campers will experience three sessions, watch coach demonstrations and participate in competitive games to better themselves as lacrosse players.

Morning Session:

The Morning Session consists of position specific individual skills and small space play techniques. The attack and midfield are separated, enabling them to better focus on shooting, dodging from behind, stick protection, feeding and off-ball movement specific to their position. Defense will focus on one-on-one defense, footwork, stick checks and body checks. Goalies will focus on footwork and technique in the goal.

Afternoon Session:

The goal of afternoon session is to continue working on individual stick skills while adding a competitive edge. Attack and defense players will work on 1-on-1, 2-on-2, 3-on-3 situations, picks and shooting. Midfielders will work on 1-on-1, 2-on-2, 3-on-3 situations, sweeping, and shooting, and goalies will be on goal with one of the groups. At the end of each session coaches will be available to answer questions campers may have from the morning and afternoon sessions.

Evening Session:

The evening sessions will include full field and half field play focusing on team interaction, team plays and learning a true team style of play. This is a chance for each camper to put together the skills and moves they have learned throughout the day and practice them in a game situation.
