Final Games

Camp wrapped up this morning with the campers playing in the final games. All of the games were exciting and close and we know that the parents enjoyed watching their sons work hard, have fun, be great teammates and show off all of their new skills. Thank you to all of the parents, players, coaches and support staff for helping to run a great camp!

The games were followed by the much talked about Woodberry Forest Lacrosse Camp Raffle. This year two pairs of Woodberry customized Nike Vapor Elite gloves, five STX Scandium Pro handles and five STX Superpower heads (two having gone to the winners of the Fastest Shot competition) were up for grabs. All of the campers names are entered into the "hat of chance" and they could barely contain their excitement as they waited for Coach Hemming!

Day 3 Second Session and Face-off Workshop

The oppressive heat took the campers indoors once again during the afternoon. (A thunderstorm came through during the session and dropped the temperatures into the low 80's!) Divided by conferences, the older campers participated in short field situations with 5 vs. 5. The younger campers started with a wall ball session and then engaged in a fast paced 3 vs. 2 drill.

Following this drills, campers were invited to participated in a face-off workshop lead by JJ Miller. Others opted for shooting practice or time in the pool before dinner.

This evening will bring another round of games followed by a pizza party and the much anticipated Woodberry Forest Lacrosse Camp Raffle!

Fastest Shot Competition

Following the morning sessions, the respective conferences took part in the much anticipated Fastest Shot Competition to see who would win the STX Superpower heads. Each camper had two chances against the radar gun, taking shots from approximately ten yards out. The winner from the ODAC Conference was Andrew Cooke with a 76MPH shot and the Centennial Conference winner was future Woodberry Tiger Billy Osterman with an 84MPH shot! Following the competition, the coaches took a shot against the radar gun. Pax Anthos broke 100MPH with the fastest shot of the day.

Day 3 First Session

The cooler morning temperatures found the campers on the turf once again. They were divided by conference, using both Hanes Field at Johnson Stadium (Centennial Conference) and the Gillespie Family Field (ODAC Conference). The Centennial Conference began the morning with stretching and stick work, and were then further divided into the Orange and White teams from the previous day to practice certain skills together. The primary focus was numbers situations, and they saw everything from 1 vs. 1 or 2 to 5 vs. 6. Following their team practice, they engaged in another game. This time the White team emerged victorious, winning by one goal!

The ODAC Conference also began the morning with stretching and stick work. Following this, they worked on 1 vs. 1 and 2 vs. 2 situations. The coaches provided demonstrations on how to create open space, set picks and defend picks. After a water break, they played the final game of the round-robin tournament from last night which will determine the standings for this evening's games.
